Conditions of III International Profession Skill Competition “The Best Abrasive Blasting Operator and Painter 2010”.

1. General terms

Industry Profession Skill Competition among abrasive blasting operators and painters, specialized in corrosion protection of surfaces (further - Competition), is held by Uralgrit Group with assistance of the Government of Moscow.
 
The purpose of the Competition is to enhance prestige of such professions as abrasive-blasting operator and painter, to maintenance professional growth of specialists in this industrial sector by sharing experiences, communicating and awarding the best of the profession, to demonstrate up-to-date equipment and technology and to promote corrosion protection industry.

2. Date and Venue of the Competition

May, 2010. Moscow.

 

Participants will be informed about the exact date of the Competition, later. You can also find info about the date on our web site. 

 

3. Participants of Competition

Service companies’ specialists are welcome to participate in the Competition. They will form 20 teams of corrosion protection market professionals from Russia and countries of near and far abroad. Each team consists of 3 (three) specialists: an abrasive-blasting operator, a painter and a serviceman.

4. Competition Committee

The Competition Committee consists of the most competent authorities of corrosion protection industry: experts of such organizations, as FROSIO, NACE (National Association of Corrosion Engineers), EFC (European Federation of Corrosion), VAKOR (All-Russian Association of Corrosion Engineers).

5. Competition holding and results summing up
 
The results of the Competition are summed up as a sum of the results of both stages:

• Theory. Participants will be examined to have any basic knowledge in corrosion protection field.
  

• Practice. Teams should be ready to show their professional skills on the specially assigned industrial  facility in the city - to clear and paint a surface of a heat station’s cooling tower with use of abrasive blasting plant and painting unit. All participants will get the technical specifications: what cleaning grade of surface should be and what coating thickness of the surface should be put on the assigned section (all teams will be provided with identical sections of the surface). Speed and quality level will be the decisive criteria to estimate the performed work.

6. Materials, equipment and protections

Organizers and sponsors of the Competition will provide the participants with all necessary materials (abrasives, paint materials) as well as a complete set of equipment, except protections, which companies-participants should provide by themselves. All participants of the Competition should have personal protections. It’s obligatory.

7. Competition fee

Competition fee is RUR 50,000 per team.

Two meals a day within 2 days are included. 

8. Supplementary program

Within the limits of the Competition there will be a live online conference which is called “Innovations in corrosion protection“. Besides, an exhibition and sale of the professional equipment, master classes and an entertainment and sightseeing program are scheduled. And at the end of the Competition there will be a gala night for all participants.

9. Competition winners awarding

Those specialists, who demonstrate that they are the best experts within the limits of Competition, will be awarded with monetary prizes.
The Best Team will be awarded as well.
